Santa Monica and Venice

Well what a day today was,we went from hot to an amazing completely fogged in cold day. We left Beverly Hills in hot sunshine and arrived at Santa Monica just as a heavy sea mist was coming in off the ocean. We have never seen anything like it and it lasted all day!!! We walked along Santa Monica Pier and couldn't even see the beach! We had a lovely lunch of strawberries, blueberries, granola and banana in Agave syrup with coconut on top, beautiful!!! From there we walked to the end of the pier and by this time there was virtually nothing left to see or photograph and it had become very cool! Amazing weather, I thought it would lift but no, it stayed. This happens here apparently so it only seemed strange to us.
We then got back on the bus and went to the famous Venice Beach area. Once again foggy mist everywhere. I found the place quite tacky really but perhaps if the sun was out it would have been better. It was an experience worth having all the same and we managed to get some good snaps of the Venice Street Sign. After a very long day we finally arrived back at the hotel in the dark and went to get dinner. Another very interesting day in Los Angeles. The bus driver informed us that LA has the worst traffic congestion in the world! We have to say we agree!

    Yeah I thought the same about Venice Beach, tacky and cheap feeling. Weather there surprised me too, was ok when I visited but they said it often gets very gloomy.

      I didnt realise you had been there Scott, yes tacky but you have to see it! On a brighter note we had a great coffee back in the town across from the sign!

    The mist is incredible & to last all day as well. Trace the guy in the grey shirt on the Pier looks like Joe Hockey.

    That mist didn't seem to keep the beach goers away. It still looked busy. It sounds like it was a very interesting day for you both. You must be looking forward to seeing Las Vegas now!

      I certainly wasn't but we're here now and it hasn't been too bad as we have the right gear. Stephen bought a coat in Las Vegas on special for $30 as it was hot there! The sun has been out fortunately but apparently snow is forecast for tomorrow.
