New York 9

We set out for Soho this morning taking the subway from 50th Street using our newly purchased Metro Cards. The subway is more complicated to use than say in Paris but we managed to take the right trains there and back. Soho is an upmarket area in lower Manhattan where a lot of celebs apparently shop. We didn't come across any! The best thing we saw was a group of guys singing, it was just great, absolutely loved it.Stephen bought some tee shirts and we went through Bloomingdales and a great MOMA shop as well as taking in the architecture of the place which is always interesting because of the outside fire escape stairs. The buildings are so different to Australia.
Later in the day we took the subway to uptown to go to the Museum Of Natural History but alas we thought it was open till late but in fact closed at 5.30, a miscalculation there on our part for timing. We had a brief look and then walked back home. 10 klms today was our distance walked but the pastries are sure to make certain that we haven't lost weight!  We even did the unthinkable and bought our first American hot dog....and I have to say it was pretty good!
(I have had trouble adding some photos unfortunately)

Had a short break in a local park while looking at our map

Really interesting building

View of the odd design building that looks like blocks. We had seen it in the distance on our boat cruise

These guys were the best singers and movers!

  1. Pity you can't add video to the posts. The singers would have been good for me to listen to.

  3. Hi Trace, just had a couple cups of coffee while catching up! Even though I don't appear very often I do love catching up on your blog & seeing what you have been doing. The photos are fantastic. Has been so cold for you, you have done well to be doing so much! Will be coming home for a rest & to warm up though it may be wet. Lilly & I noticed how good your lawn looked this morning when we walked past. All looks in order from the street! I loved the photos of Central Park with all the snow looked so pretty, even ice on some of the water tells us how cold it must have been! Is there still ice there. Must be fabulous having the apartment in NY. Your 11 days will be nearly up. Great you came across the flower show especially after being to the World Trade Ctr. The streets in Soho look quite dull compared to your other photos of NY? Have you been for a visit inside of Stephen's shop, maybe it's a tax deductible holiday after all! 😉 Stay safe x

    1. Hi Joc what a lovely long comment, so glad to hear from you! We are up early tomorrow and catching a train to Washington and then back here on Thursday to fly home. You're not wrong about coming home to rest, we have walked so much here, more than I could stand in a way lol so I might have some strong calf muscles for riding at last! The weather has been very dull some days and freezing one day and then nice the next, very unpredictable as a lady was telling us this morning. Glad the place is looking ok, look forward to seeing the gorgeous Lilly again and getting to know her better, she's well and truly settled in by now I bet!!! Cheers Joc, look forward to a coffee or six with you when I get home! Trace xx
